Advanced Orthopedics for Joint Replacement (AOJR) held the third of six lectures in the Valle Verde community. An osteoarthritis lecture and bone screening was held in Valle Verde 2 Clubhouse last August 8, 2010. The lectures have been set to every other Sunday from July to September 2010. The event was made possible by Mr. Antonio Zalamea and The Valle Verde Federation.
It was a gloomy day because of typhoon Domeng, but it didn't stop the residents from coming to the event. Participants flocked the clubhouse as early as 8:30am to have their bone density exam done. In previous events we usually schedule the bone density exam after the lecture, however because of the rains we opted to have it done first while waiting for the others to come. By the time we started the lecture all attendees were ready to ask their questions about the result of their bone density exam.
Dr. Paul San Pedro, the speaker and a doctor of AOJR was very pleased that there were a good number of attendees even with the bad weather. The event started with an introduction of the group and the speaker. Dr. Paul began his lecture on Osteoporosis, it's symptoms, prevention and treatment then followed with Osteoporosis and the difference of the two. After the 40 minute lecture, we asked the residents to ask their questions and clarification about the lecture.
The residents felt very at ease with Dr. San Pedro and commended him for his patience in answering their questions. Mrs. Leny Sunico said that the lecture was very informational. She also commended that she was glad to have this rear opportunity to discuss with a professional about her bone density exam and concerns for free. (Click here to see more pictures) |

August 4, 2010. Daniw Patrons Association sponsored a lecture entitled "Understanding Osteoarthritis". Daniw Patrons Association helps in the upkeep and maintenance of Daniw Study Center and Residence. Daniw Study Center and Residence is a venue for the educational, socio-cultural and spiritual activities of high school and college students to complement the academic training they receive in school, as well as to young professional women.
As service to their members and friends the association hold monthly get- togethers with different topics to enhance their knowledge and understanding. For the month of August they have decided to know more about Osteoarthritis.
Ms. Corie Pineda, the President of the association and some of the members found out about Advanced Orthopedics for Joint Replacement (AOJR) from the TV program Damayan. They saw Dr. Jose Fernando Syquia who has been frequenting the NBC Channel 4 as resource speaker for "Damayan" and " The Young Once" programs. They finally decided to talk to AOJR and ask for assistance.
Dr. Syquia was very happy that the crowd was very enthusiastic about the topic. It has been AOJR's mission to keep the public informed about the prevention and treatment of this painful condition and it is good to know that people are now starting to look for answers through the help of experts.
Ms. Monet Pablo, was very thankful that she attended the talk. She found Dr. Syquia as a very well spoken doctor who explained the topic thoroughly. Ms. Alma Cadiz, one of the organizers described the lecture as "comprehensive and enlightening" and that the participants were thankful that Dr. Syquia accommodated their questions.
